Hello,
Thank you so much for your interest in RTPI’s 2017 mission trip to the island of La Gonave, Haiti. Our team has arrived in Tampa FL and they are currently completing last minute preparations prior to their flight to Miami (then on to Port Au Prince Haiti), which leaves early tomorrow morning (5/31). Last night was spent sorting and packing a large donation of medical and hygiene supplies provided to us by one of our partner churches - Mt. Moriah Ministries in Plant City FL. These items are a huge blessing for the people our villages as they do not have access to these types of “everyday” products. In Haiti, it is not uncommon for ailments such uncontrolled fever or diarrhea to lead to death, so these “over the counter medications” that we often take for granted are invaluable in our villages. Because medicines can be difficult to come by in Haiti they tend to be targeted for confiscation at the Port Au Prince airport by security personnel looking to make a little extra money selling the medications on the streets. We are praying our team will not run into these issues and that the medications make it to our villages. We are also praying for traveling grace as they travel from Florida to Haiti’s capitol city of Port Au Prince and then on to the island of La Gonave, via a small twin engine Cessna chartered through a wonderful mission organization by the name of Mission Aviation Fellowship. Finally the team will make the difficult trek by truck, up the mountain to the village of Boucan La Marre. The first day of our trip is always a very long a difficult one and our teams often report feeling sustained by your prayers during their travel and throughout the duration of the trip so we invite you to join us as we lift them up in prayer over the coming days . The team’s final itinerary will be posted prior to their departure tomorrow morning which will enable you to keep up with where they are and what they are up to. We will also be posting updates daily and/or as we receive them so please check back for these updates along with praise reports and additional prayer requests.
Words cannot express our appreciation for your support of our work in Haiti. Thank you for remembering the Poor!
