Our team has made it safely back to the U.S.! Yesterday was spent visiting with the school children and their teachers. Currently, your prayers and contributions help us educate 120 children through our primary school and 130 children (grades 7 – 9) through our secondary school. They also spent some time bidding farewell to many people in and around Boucan La Marre. This morning’s trip down the mountain to the port city of Anse A Galets was mostly uneventful but our village truck is leaking power steering fluid so Pastor Pierre’s shoulder is aching from driving it up and down the rocky mountain path. Our truck is close to 15 years old and after more than a decade traversing the mountain roads of La Gonave, it’s only the grace of God that’s keeping it running. The plan was to have Pastor Pierre take it by the mechanic before he heads back up the mountain. Please pray that he is able to get this issue addressed. An MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) pilot by the name of Dave met our team at the dirt airstrip in Anse A Galets and from there it was a short and smooth flight to the capital city of Port Au Prince on the mainland. Once on the mainland they met up with Johnson, a driver that we’ve had the pleasure of working with for the last several years. Because they were extremely early for their flight Johnson took them on a little “tour” around Port Au Prince, being careful to avoid the more dangerous areas, then it was on the airport where they began the debriefing process before boarding their flight to Miami and ultimately on to Tampa. Please continue to pray for the final legs of this trip as Tiffany heads back to Louisiana early tomorrow morning and Alfonso heads back to California early Saturday morning. There is still much more to share once our team debriefs and is able to share details that text messages via a limited cell signal did not allow for, so please check back for our additional updates and for information regarding our post trip conference call which will take place prior to the 4th of July weekend.
