We are so excited to have 3 churches participating in our Women’s conference this year. Bondye La – Boucan La Marre, Bondye La – Point Sable, and Platans La Say. 41 women attended the two day conference which took place on our Boucan La Marre campus. The ladies arrived for breakfast bright and early Friday morning. Following breakfast they jumped right in to the first morning session which was led by Alfonso. The title of his message was “God is Looking for Something”, and it came from John 4:24. The story of “the woman at the well” was used as an illustration to encourage the women to seek God in Spirit and in Truth. Following the lesson Alfonso assigned the women “homework” in which they were to revisit their testimony, write it out and be able to share it.
Session 2 was lead by Pastor Bill Parker who taught from 2nd Chronicles and 2 Timothy on the negative and positive influences that women can have. Bill’s “homework” encouraged the women to explore how they are going to be an influence in their homes, churches and communities. Following the second session the ladies were broken into small groups, making sure that each group had at least one representative from each of the three churches. The remaining time before the lunch break was dedicated to allowing the ladies to discuss the “homework” in their small groups.
Following the lunch break photo albums from last year’s conference were handed out to the women who had attended last year. The photo albums were a gift from our partner church Elizabeth Baptist in Benton Louisiana. Pictures are a luxury in our villages, so the ladies were very excited to receive them. The ladies that hadn’t attended last year were told if they come back next year they will get a photo album full of pictures from this year’s conference. Next, it was on to the third session of the day, lead by Christopher Coleman. His message came from Matthew 28 and I Corinthians 12 and taught on the goal of the Church – Discipleship. He also taught about a woman’s essential role in helping bring unity to the Church through relationship building. Christopher’s “homework” encouraged the ladies to examine whether or not they had identified their spiritual gifts and why they were, or were not using them.
The final session of the day was a Q&A to discuss/clarify the “homework” or anything else that had been covered during the sessions. Following the Q&A the ladies were dismissed for dinner and had some time to prepare for the evening Watch Night service which was scheduled for 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. One of the Brothers from the Boucan La Marre church delivered the message at the Watch Night service and we are thrilled to report that during this service 4 ladies dedicated their lives to Christ (2 from the conference, and 2 that had come only for the Watch Night service)
The team reports that day one was a wonderful day. The presence of God’s spirit was evident in so many ways and finished the day excited and energized to see what God had in store for day two.
